VIII General Assembly of EURAMET (European Association of National Metrology Institutes) and the Symposium "Metrology - who cares?"
VIII General Assembly of EURAMET (European Association of National Metrology Institutes) was held in Cavtat from 03 to 05 June 2014. Within the General Assembly, EURAMET full member states delegates, considered and adopted the report on the work of EURAMET Chairman and Secretary EURAMET, carried out an election of the new Chairman and the new members of the Board of Directors. The financial statements for 2013 was considered and adopted and the budget for the coming year was presented.
The Chairman of the Technical Committee EURAMET: for interdisciplinary metrology (TC-IM), quality (TC-Q), acoustics, ultrasound and vibration (TC-AUV), Electricity and Magnetism (TC-EM), flow rate (TC-F) ionizing radiation (IR-TC), length (TC-L), mass and related quantities (TC-M), metrology in chemistry (TC-MC), photometry and radiometry (TC-PR), thermometry (TC-T) as well as time and frequency (TC-TF), show the results of work and research in the period since the previous General Assembly, as well as future plans for research.
Representatives of regional and international metrology organizations: NCSL International, COOMET and APMP and CEN / CENELEC, EURACHEM and EUROLAB, which participate in the work of the General Assembly EURAMET as guests by invitation, presented their activities, goals, plans and programs. The representative of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) presented a report on activities for 2013.
The status of the European research program in the field of metrology (EMRP), and the status of the European research and innovation program (EMPIR) were discussed. The results of research in the field of energy, as well as the protection of human health were presented. Within the General Assembly, 04 June 2014, there was a symposium on the impact of metrology in the development of society, science, standardization and innovation, as well as metrology challenges in the field of nanotechnology.
The participation of the director of the Bureau of Metrology prof. Dr. Vanja Asanović and assistant director, Goran Vukoslavovic at the VIII General Assembly EURAMET and accompanying symposium enabled the monitoring of current research in the field of metrology, the formulation of proposals for the implementation of seminars and inter-laboratory comparisons, as well as planning activities for the purpose of participation of the Bureau of Metrology in the European research and innovation program (EMPIR).
