Laboratory for Verification of Speed Measurement Equipment carries out verification procedure for speed measuring equipment as follows:
- Speed measuring instruments operating on the principle of Doppler Effect;
- Laser speed measuring instruments operating on the principle of LIDAR (Light Distance and Ranging);
- Speed measuring instruments operating on the principle of measuring the length of the distance traveled in relation to time;
- Speed measuring instruments operating on the principle of measuring time during the passage of the vehicle between at least two fixed points on a known distance.
Verification of speed measuring instruments refers to:
- Speed measuring instruments measuring from a fixed station (measuring instrument is static);
- Speed measuring instruments measuring from a mobile station (measuring instrument is in motion).
The Laboratory for Verification of Speed Measuring Equipment also issues certificates of type approval for speed measuring instruments pursuant to the Decree on legal measuring instruments that are subject to mandatory verification or type approval of the measuring instrument (Official Gazette of Montenegro 81/09).
Verification of speed measurement equipment is performed with measuring equipment calibrated at laboratories of national metrology institutes or authorized institutes, (EURAMET Designated Institutes) which either have a CMC published in the BIPM database or accreditation by accreditation body signatory to EA MLA agreement as follows:
- Agilent signal generator, type 33521A with antenna;
- Tuning forks (K frequency);
- Agilent, source of one way voltage, type E3631A;
- Peiseler, system for measuring speed and distance traveled, type RV Fifth wheel 28“;
- Hanhart, digital stopwatch, type Stratos 2;
- Unior, measuring tape, type 714.
