Calibration of measuring instruments and standards

Calibration is a set of operations that establish, under specified conditions, the relation between the value of parameters indicated by a measuring instrument or measuring system, or values represented by a materialized measure or reference material and the corresponding values realized by standards.

The Bureau of Metrology calibrates measuring instruments and measuring standards following a request for calibration of measuring instruments.

Bureau of Meteorology performs calibration of measuring instruments and standards in its laboratories with a calculation of measurement uncertainty in accordance with approved calibration procedures.

Only standards that have a valid certificate of calibration can be used for verification of the legal measuring instruments. Deadlines for calibration of standards used for verification of legal measuring instruments are prescribed by the Regulations regarding deadlines for calibration standards used for verification of legal measuring instruments ("Official Gazette MNE", No. 33/2011).
