Certificate on type approval of measuring instruments is a document or a legal document issued on the basis of the previous examination, confirming that the measuring instrument type complies with prescribed metrological requests and that the measuring instrument is suitable for usage for a certain period.
Measuring instruments, which are subject to a mandatory type approval of measuring instrument, are specified by the Decree on legal measuring instruments that are mandatory subjected to verification and/or the type approval of the measuring instrument (Official Gazette of Republic of Montenegro, No. 81/09 from December 8th, 2009).
The procedure of the type approval of measuring instrument is determined by the Rulebook on more detailed procedure and method of examination and approving the type of a measuring instrument (Official Gazette of Montenegro 10/10).
If the Bureau finds that a certain measuring instrument type doesn't satisfy prescribed technical and metrological requirements, it brings a solution which rejects approval of the measuring instrument type.
The examination of the measuring instrument type is conducted by the Bureau of Metrology at the request of the local producer or importer of the measuring instrument, i.e. representative of the foreign company that sells measuring instruments from the consignment warehouse.
The examination is done at the premises of the Bureau. If conditions for the examination are not suitable there, the Bureau can, based on the contract, perform the examination at another place in cooperation with national metrological institutes or foreign laboratories that have the authorization for conducting the examination procedure concerning the type approval of measuring instrument.
For the instrument, for which a certificate for type approval of measuring instrument was issued by a foreign institution, authorized by the state for the affairs of type approval of measuring instrument, the Bureau can issue a certificate on type approval on measuring instruments by confirming the original certificate, if the applicant submits, along with the application:
• certificate on type approval of the measuring instrument issued by the foreign institution;
• report on the examination of the measuring instrument type with the results of the examination based on which the certificate was issued;
• sample/samples of the measuring instrument;
• other details on the measuring instrument requested by the Bureau.
